Ladies Department

The AFM in Zimbabwe ladies ministry has been running for over 100 years, commonly referred to as the Ladies Department, it is powerful in supporting and sustaining families and has been instrumental in the financing of a number of church projects in support of the vision set by the church leadership.

Amai President Madziyire

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. Proverbs 31 vs 10 - 13. ( KJV )

Estabilished at provincial level, in 1997 in Harare by Rev. T.I Murefu, the name WISMO was derived from "Widows and single Mothers" who were reconciled alike due to the fact that both groups did not have a fatherly figure in their lives. The department grew from one province to others countrywide until it became a stand alone ministry under the ladies department, led by Amai Josphine Madziyire, wife to the church President, Dr. A. Madziyire. The department seeks to encourage each other to live a holy life as a God fearing individual regardless of circumstances with various role models in the form of single mothers who have stayed faithful in the diligent upkeep of their children even though the fathers have long gone. The department teaches that life/death has always been part of life, hence ALL our hope comes from the LORD and death or rejection from a husband can happen to anyone, even Jesus was rejected. As such the department diligently seeks to remove the stereotype that death/rejection of a husband is the end of the world for a woman but rather we encourage our members to be self sufficient in order to take good care of their families through teachings and projects. In this regard we are an active department which is not dormant but rather we look beyond our physical status and even contribute financially to the Kingdom of GOD, through projects which compliment the Sisters Union. We encourage our members to remain resolute in Prayer to be effective soldiers of the cross as we know for a fact that, an idle mind is the devils workshop. "And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity; And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day - Luke 2:36-37 KJV

Prayer Meetings (Click to expand)

These are held every Tuesday in every Province where ladies meet to pray for:
• The church leadership
• Womens needs and protection
• Peace and tranquillity in our communities and the nation at large.

The prayers have proved to be very effective as seen by the development of many women into intercessors as well as worshippers. All members of the department also give back to the church either financially or by volunteering theirr services in other ministries such as Ushering, Hospitality and Decoration and in the Children’s Ministry.

Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2 vs 4-5 ( NIV )

Thursday Meetings

Members of the ladies department in various provinces across the country regularly gather for Thursday meetings popularly referred to as ‘China chemadzimai’ . These gatherings comprise mostly women who are not formally employed and they meet for feminine teachings, testimony sharing, socialising and last but not least, for prayer.

Conferences

These are held at assembly, provincial and national level. National conferences are held in May at Rufaro Mission, the church’s centre in Masvingo near Chartsworth and are attended by over 50 000 women across the country. The power of God is very much evidenced at these congregations as the women come in their numbers to testify of conception, healing and various miracles after being prayed for.

Giving back to the Community

Social activities involve:
• Sourcing and distributing food and clothing items to the less priviledged members of our community such as orphans at Manhinga and to some WISMO members.
• Supporting bible college students at Living Waters with food and other items.
• In this regard Amai President Madziyire often distributes food to the widows from personal resources.
